True Stories from Japan

True Stories from Japan is an occasional blog on the Sasakawa USA website that features reflective essays about travels to and from Japan. Topics range from U.S.-Japan relations to cultural differences and everything in between.

True Stories from Japan articles have explored topics including:

• Academic, cultural, and military exchanges
• U.S.-Japan diplomacy, trade, and security
• Food and cultural experiences
• Shifting perspectives due to experiences abroad

Submissions are encouraged from individuals who have an interest in Japan and/or are involved in U.S.-Japan relations. Authors to-date have been Sasakawa USA interns and staff, partners of Sasakawa USA, students participating in exchanges, and experts in the U.S.-Japan field.

We accept submissions on a rolling basis. Please see below for guidelines.

Submission Guidelines

• Submissions should be focused on personal experiences related to Japan or U.S.-Japan relations and can range in interest.
• Submissions should be an original work by the author.
• Submissions must contain a brief biography of the author(s), a head shot of the author(s), and photos to accompany the article.
• Submissions must be no longer than 1,000 words in length, not including the author biography.
