On April 30, 2019, Sasakawa USA hosted Dani Charles, Co-Founder & CEO, Charles Bernard Ventures, for a private luncheon to present on his soon-to-be published paper on the strategic relationship between Japan and Israel as it relates to cyber, technology, and innovation, and how the United States might facilitate this Japan-Israel exchange.
Darah Phillip, Research Assistant for Sasakawa USA, has published an article on Inkstick Media about Japan and climate change. “Japan’s Chance to Lead on Climate Change,” was published on October 16 and examines the steps Japan could take to establish a global lead in mitigating climate change. Specifically, Philip argues that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe should reject burning coal as a source of energy in Japan and abroad, and work to develop and share Japanese technologies and best practices with other nations.

The great and increasing importance of the cyber domain in strategic competition makes a pressing need for Japan to advance its cyber-security and technology entrepreneurship development. Japan lags behind other major economies in this regard due to particular characteristics of its business environment and a lack of ways to develop talent for key cyber jobs. However, Japan is in a unique position to leverage its existing public-private ties, already tech-savvy population, and the upcoming Tokyo Olympics to develop its cyber and entrepreneurial capacities.

The Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) family of aircraft, with between 70 and 100 seats, promises the highest fuel efficiency and the lowest pollution compared with its competitors in the booming regional jet market. The first few aircraft are currently undergoing testing in the United States.
