First ‘Views of Japan’ event to explore perceptions of Japan in Africa

Celebrating the beginning of a new season symbolized by the cherry blossoms, Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA is excited to launch a new “Views of Japan” event series that will explore perceptions of Japan from other regions around the world. The first of this new event series will be launched on April 4 as part of the 2017 National Cherry Blossom Festival.

The Evolution of American Perceptions on Japan through Film

Sasakawa USA celebrated more than 70 years of friendship between the United States and Japan with a clip reel viewing, panel discussion and audience Q&A looking at films that portray Japan and Japanese people. The event, part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, explored topics including stereotypes, propaganda, realism, war, globalization, and more.
