Japanese biologist awarded Nobel Prize

Japan claimed its 26th Nobel Prize today. Yoshinori Ohsumi won the Nobel Prize in physiology/medicine for his work on autophagy or how cells recycle themselves. His work has provided insights into how our bodies cope with stresses such as starvation, disease and aging. Dr. Ohsumi is a professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and has his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo.
