Sasakawa USA staff were on the Hill this week for several briefings and meetings with Congress.
On August 30, 2018, as part of Sasakawa USA’s Alumni Program, Sasakawa USA partnered with the U.S. Association for Former Members of Congress – Congressional Study Group on Japan (FMC – CSGJ) to host 19 of our congressional alumni for a reception at Kaz Sushi Bistro. Alumni who joined us were former participants of CSGJ’s delegations to Japan and Weekend Asia Retreats in Baltimore or East West Center in Washington’s Congressional Program on Asia (CSPA), which are all sponsored by Sasakawa USA.

Sasakawa USA co-hosted a reception celebrating the U.S.-Japan relationship for Japanese Diet Members visiting Washington, D.C. during Japan’s Golden Week holiday. The reception, which took place on Capitol Hill, included Diet Members visiting for sponsored events, as well as Members traveling independently.

Sasakawa USA celebrated the importance of the U.S.-Japan relationship with a Congressional Reception at the Reserve Officers Association Building. This reception provided attendees with the opportunity to learn more about the U.S.-Japan relationship while enjoying Japanese cuisine and drinks.

Sasakawa USA’s Fourth Annual Security Forum brought together government officials, academics, and security experts for a day-long conference on Asian security within the context of the U.S.-Japan alliance. The event provided diverse views on challenging issues with panel discussions on topics such as congressional views on trade, U.S.-Japan defense policies, the North Korean threat, and cybersecurity cooperation.
