Marissa “Collins” Collins first joined Sasakawa USA in August of 2019 as the Programs and Communications Intern and became the Digital Content Coordinator in February of 2020. In this position, Collins manages social media and the websites for Sasakawa USA and the JUMP program and is responsible for digital communications and strategies. They enjoy promoting Sasakawa USA’s work in the online world and contributing to U.S.-Japan relations.

A proud Texan, Collins graduated from Austin College in Sherman in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts and a double major in International Relations and East Asian Languages and Cultures. During that period, they spent a semester of intensive language study at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan. After graduating, they went on to become a foreign language teacher at Nanchang University in Nanchang, China. In 2018 Collins returned to the U.S. to pursue a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs, concentrating on Conflict Resolution and Asia, from the Elliott School at George Washington University in Washington D.C. During that time, they were awarded a Boren Fellowship for language study in Tokyo.
