Women, Peace and Security Provides Japan Opportunity for Global Leadership Role

In an article published in November 2024 by a Japanese monthly journal, Wedge, Sasakawa USA Director of Programs Shanti Shoji wrote about Japan’s potential as a global leader of disaster resilience due to its extensive experience with preparedness and response efforts, as well as its integration of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) principles within the country’s disaster risk reduction apparatus. With the increase of extreme weather events and natural disasters around the world, Ms. Shoji emphasizes the role that Japan can play in the sharing of lessons learned and fostering a more resilient and equitable future globally.
