US plan to boost Pacific air power seen as counterbalance to China

Sasakawa USA Senior Director James Schoff quoted by the Voice of America on U.S. Defense Department plans to upgrade fighter jets stationed at Japanese bases. In this article, Mr. Schoff remarks that the planned upgrade, along with Japan’s own military investments, “will help maintain some degree of air power balance between the allies and China’s progress in air force modernization.”
