Blinken’s 6-country Asia tour to show U.S. is ‘all in’ on region

Sasakawa USA Senior Director James Schoff quoted in Nikkei Asia ahead of the July 28th “two-plus-two” meeting of U.S. and Japan defense and foreign ministers in Tokyo. Mr. Schoff underscores the importance of being “on the same page about the scale and scope” of the revamped command and control (C2) structure of U.S. forces in Japan. Additionally, Mr. Schoff notes that the rank of the commander, location of the operational command, and size of its staff have yet to be decided for the modernization of U.S. C2 in Japan.
