Adm. Dennis Blair: At Scarborough Shoal, China is Playing with Fire

Scarborough shoalIf China were to start dredging on the disputed Scarborough Shoal, it would risk a potential military confrontation with the United States, Sasakawa USA Chairman and CEO Adm. Dennis Blair said Thursday in a Foreign Policy article by Dan De Luce.

“If the Chinese push there, I think there’s going to be trouble,” Blair said in the article, which details the growing rivalry between China and the United States within the South China Sea and why the Scarborough Shoal is one of particular strategic interest.

“I would be surprised if the United States hasn’t told China it’s a shoal too far for them,” Blair said in the article.
