Operation TOMODACHI: A Ten-Year Commemoration

On March 3, JUMP hosted a virtual event in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan and Sasakawa USA. Ambassador Koji Tomita, Admiral Patrick M. Walsh, USN (Ret.), Commanders of the U.S. and Japan military divisions that led Operation TOMODACHI, General Ryoichi Oriki, JGSDF (Ret.), and Major General Hiroyuki Sugai, Defense and Air Attaché at the Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C., delivered special remarks and reflected on the success of Operation TOMODACHI.

In coordination with the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington and the Nisei Veterans Committee, Sasakawa USA's Japan-US Military Program (JUMP) hosted an event in Seattle, Washington honoring the Nisei Veterans—second-generation Japanese-Americans who served in the segregated 100th Battalion/442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT) and the Military Intelligence Service (MIS), during World War II.

JUMP: Beer & Sake Festival with Japan Society of San Diego & Tijuana (San Diego)

The Japan-U.S. Military Program sponsored the Japan Society of San Diego & Tijuana’s Beer & Sake Festival on June 16, 2017 at Harrah’s Resort Southern California in San Diego’s North County. The festival is a popular and fast-growing charity tasting event, featuring local restaurants serving sumptuous appetizers, and breweries pouring tasty beers and sake.

JUMP: Marine Corps Recruit Depot Breakfast Reception (San Diego)
