On March 22, 2013, Sasakawa USA welcomed Mr. Stephen E. Biegun for a private, off-the-record discussion on the outlook for the American automobile industry in light of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Stephen E. Biegun is a corporate officer and vice president of Ford Motor Company, overseeing all aspects of Ford’s international governmental relations including the company’s trade strategy, and political risk assessment related to Ford’s global manufacturing locations. Prior to joining Ford in 2004, he served as national security advisor to the U.S. Senate Majority Leader. He served in the White House from 2001-2003 as executive secretary of the National Security Council. He also served 14 years as a foreign policy advisor in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, including as staff director of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. Mr. Biegun is a third generation Ford Motor Company employee, and serves on the board of the Trans-Atlantic Business Council and as co-chair of the Business Coalition for Trans-Atlantic Trade. He graduated from the University of Michigan where he studied political science and Russian language.
