On May 11, Sasakawa USA welcomed VADM Tomohiko Madono, President of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Command and Staff College, to discuss his research on the history of the rise and fall of Chinese dynasties and its impact on Japan’s strategy toward China with the next generation of U.S.-Japan-Asia security scholars and policy experts. This in-person roundtable provided a valuable opportunity for young and upcoming scholars in the Washington, D.C. area to discuss Japanese strategy with a distinguished expert from JMSDF, as well as increase their network of young Japan-focused individuals. Sasakawa USA will build upon this event and hold similar roundtables in the future to engage with and support up-and-coming young scholars and experts who work in the arena of the U.S.-Japan alliance.
