On May 17, the U.S. Commercial Service held a cybersecurity conference at Keio University in Tokyo, sponsored by Sasakawa USA and Keio University. The conference assembled Japanese and American leaders from industry, government, and academia to discuss challenges in cybersecurity in the coming years, as well as solutions to those challenges.
The conference featured speakers including Sasakawa USA Chairman and CEO Adm. Dennis Blair, Minister in charge of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Toshiaki Endo, Keio University Professor and Japanese computer scientist Dr. Jun Murai, and cyber security expert Melissa Hathaway.
Presenting companies included Microsoft, NTT, Cisco, Lockheed Martin, Hitachi, and Palo Alto Networks. Sasakawa USA Fellow for Cybersecurity Bud Roth and Sasakawa Peace Foundation Advisor Noboru Yamaguchi lead panels on critical infrastructure protection. Other panels addressed finance sector cybersecurity and the internet of things.
