On October 2, 2013, Sasakawa USA welcomed Mr. Ira Wolf for a private, off-the-record discussion on Japan’s latest developments in medical and pharmaceutical research.
Ira Wolf has been the Japan Representative of PhRMA since 2006. His career has focused on trade and Asia in both the public and private sectors. Twice, he served as a diplomat in the American Embassy in Tokyo. Wolf was the Assistant USTR for Japan and China during the administrations of Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush, and as a senior staff member for Senator Jay Rockefeller and Senator Max Baucus. He has worked in Japan as Vice President and Director of Japan and Asia Government Relations for Eastman Kodak Company and Director of Government Relations for Motorola, and in Singapore as Executive Director of the trade association representing the international air express delivery industry in Asia. Mr. Wolf is a member of the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, a member of the Board of the Tokyo American Club, and has served as Vice Chairman of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
