On March 17, 2015, Sasakawa USA hosted its first Annual Alumni Reception to bring together former participants of Sasakawa-run or Sasakawa-sponsored programs as well as our friends and partners in the U.S.-Japan community for a fun-filled evening of reminiscing and networking. This reception marked the beginning of a series of alumni-centered events designed to facilitate discussion on U.S.-Japan relations among Sasakawa USA alumni, even after their programs end.

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, green “saketinis” were served along with Japanese-inspired hors d’oeuvres at Zentan, a modern Asian fusion restaurant. Participants enjoyed a group trivia game testing their knowledge of topics ranging from Japanese politics to Japanese convenience stores.

Admiral Dennis Blair, Chairman and CEO of Sasakawa USA, made remarks – entertaining the audience with a self-made haiku! –on the importance of connecting Japan experts and non-Japan experts to promote better understanding of U.S.-Japan relations and the entire Asia-Pacific region. The evening ended with a raffle drawing with exciting prizes.
