On December 4, 2012, Sasakawa USA welcomed Dr. Aaron Friedberg for a private, off-the-record discussion on the implications of China’s rise on U.S.-Japan relations.

About the Speaker

Dr. Aaron FriedDr. Aaron Friedbergberg is professor of politics and international affairs at Princeton University and served as a co-chairman of the Romney presidential campaign’s Asian advisory team. From 2003 to 2005 he worked as a deputy assistant for national security affairs in the Office of the Vice President.

In November 2006 he was named to the secretary of state’s Advisory Committee on Democracy Promotion. He is a former fellow of the Smithsonian Institution’s Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Norwegian Nobel Institute and Harvard University’s Center of International Affairs. Friedberg’s most recent book is A Contest for Supremacy: China, America and the Struggle for Mastery in Asia. He earned his A.B., A.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard University.
