Balancing Japan’s Security Policy with the U.S. Rebalance

On September 12, 2012, Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA co-hosted an event with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation of Japan and The Congressional Study Group on Japan featuring the Honorable Seiji Maehara. Mr. Maehara is a 20-year veteran of the Japanese Diet and currently serves as Chairman of the Democratic Party of Japan’s Policy Research Council. Previously, he served as President of the DPJ, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and later as Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until 2011. In his current role, he is the chief architect of the majority party’s legislative agenda.
