Earlier this year Sasakawa USA held a tabletop exercise, or TTX, that explored potential challenges the U.S.-Japan alliance might face in a Senkaku islands crisis. This episode of Asia on Air dives into the exercise and its takeaways.

About the Guests

RADM Michael McDevitt was a senior fellow at CNA Strategic Studies, where he led multiple major projects related to maritime disputes in the East China Sea and South China Sea. RADM McDevitt is an expert in strategy, war planning and naval operations.
James Kendall is the Fellow for Common Challenges at Sasakawa USA and the Executive Director of the Japan-US Military Program (JUMP). Mr. Kendall’s expertise includes defense and aerospace, Asia-Pacific affairs, project management, and strategic planning.
Hideshi Tokuchi is a Distinguished Non-Resident Fellow at Sasakawa USA, Senior Fellow at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo, Japan, and formerly Japan’s first Vice-Minister of Defense for International Affairs. Mr. Tokuchi’s expertise is in Japan-U.S. defense cooperation, security-related legislation, defense buildup programs, and operations of the Japanese Defense Forces.
